“Education is not a dream of an individual, it is the necessity of the globe.”
– Himaanthri Surendran
The SDG Global Week celebrates the contribution of individuals and organizations towards a sustainable tomorrow taught us, the G17 University Ambassadors of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), to realize how blessed and privileged we are. The one-week journey made us realize our obligation to act on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goal No. 4, Quality Education. We have heard of people urging, fighting, and dying to ensure, emphasize and establish the vital cause of Quality Education. We as Sri Lankans are so blessed since, as a country, regardless of gender, race, and ethnicity we all embrace and value education.
Many individuals and organizations within and beyond the island support hundreds and thousands of students to envision the future of the world. An interview with Mr. Pramadi Attapattu, CEO of Eduscope (Pvt) Ltd and a proud alumna of SLIIT, made us aware that depressingly, not all young passionate leaders of tomorrow have the means or resources to pursue education as they may not be entitled to support rendered by philanthropists. It was undeniably inspiring and heartening to know of the purpose-driven plan of Eduscope to support students who do not have proper access to education. The passionate move of Mr. Pramadi Attapattu toward promoting quality education inspired the G17 University Ambassadors of SLIIT to support Eduscope by reaching out to disadvantaged students and helping them with their studies.
It was an immense pleasure as the G17 Ambassadors of SLIIT to have heard the ardent story of Eduscope to support unprivileged scholars and to accompany them to see Educated Sri Lanka’s Future in our eyes.
